eTXT Tests for Authors
  • Why did you take my stars? I had 3 stars for copywriting/rewriting/translation/SEO but now they’re gone. What happened?

Passing a test with a good score alone isn’t enough. You need to also confirm your level of skill with every order you execute and every article you sell. Don’t you think it’s fair? When a customer hires you to execute an order because you’ve passed a test with a good score, they want to also be sure that they’ll be satisfied with the work delivered. If we check your work and the articles that you’re selling and it turns out the quality of your work doesn’t correspond to your test results, your test results may be canceled.

ATTENTION! The Administration reserves the right to disable the user’s account if the work delivered by the user contains multiple gross spelling, grammatical, stylistic, and other errors.

  • How to get a task to improve the skill level?
To get the task to improve the skill level, in the “Qualification” widget, click on the item “Skill Levels”. In the window that opens, select the type or types of work that you would like to make (optionally, specify the desired price to receive the task) and save the changes. After that, in the section "Skill Levels" will open the access to tasks. Click on the link “Select a task” opposite the items “Copywriting”, “Rewriting”, “Translation” or “SEO-copywriting” — below will open a list of test tasks for the selected type of work.

Important: To pass the completed assignment, it is also necessary to go to the "Skill Levels" section and click on the “accepted for implementation” link opposite the selected type of work.
  • How much time do authors have to do a test assignment?

Authors have 2 weeks to complete their tests.

  • In the section "Skill levels" I do not have the right kind of work, what should I do?
You need to add the proper type of work. To do this, in the "Qualification" widget, go to the "Skill Levels" section, click the "Settings" button, mark the types of work you need and save the changes. After adding the type of work, you can take the necessary assignment to increase the skill level.

You can also change the types and cost of your work in the "Account Settings" section of your personal account.
  • Can I take tests multiple times?

The author may take tests multiple times. However, you can’t retake the same test. You need to always select a new test topic. You can take a new test in the same specialization (copywriting, rewriting, etc.) at least 5 days after completing your previous test. If you want to take a test in a different specialization, you don’t have to wait. For example, you got 2 stars for rewriting. You can take a test in copywriting immediately, while another test in rewriting can be taken at least in 5 days.

  • What do I do if I speak German (French, Italian, Spanish, etc.) fluently, but the test is in English?

Currently, we’re assessing the quality of only English-to-Russian and Russian-to-English translations. If you speak any other language, you may translate 1-2 articles from the foreign language into Russian and/or from Russian into the foreign language (1,500 to 2,000 characters with spaces). Select Free Translation. Don’t forget to check the option adding the rest result to your Portfolio. After your test is assessed by a moderator, it’ll be added to your Portfolio but without assessing your level of skill.

  • I had 2 stars for copywriting. I took another test to get one more star but I didn’t. And now I have no level of skill at all. Why?

If your new test results are worse than the previous test results, your level of skill is reduced automatically.

  • My test was rejected. My level of skill wasn’t raised. Can I sell the article?

The sale of eTXT test assignments is prohibited. eTXT has exclusive rights for its test assignments regardless of the results. Any unauthorized use of unique text materials submitted to raise one’s level of skill will be considered an attempt to steal unique content and violation of the Business Proposal. The user’s account will be disabled immediately for any attempt to steal the unique content of eTXT.

  • What should be the text uniqueness on the assignment to increase the level of skill: copywriting for two stars - so that the test will be passed successfully?

The higher the text uniqueness, written to increase the skill level, the better - for any skill level and any type of work. Coincidences on common phrases are allowed: names, dates, terms, etc.
Works, where fragments of superficial rewriting or voluminous literal matches are found will be rejected.

  • Who and how determines the level of skill of an author (stars near specializations in the Profile)?

Stars are given to an author for doing test assignments in copywriting, rewriting, translation or SEO copywriting given by the Administration of the website. The assignments are assessed by professional philologists from the point of view of grammar, style, content and other aspects. The quality of translations is checked by translators-linguists. Depending on the results, the author’s level of skill is determined: 1 star – low, 2 stars – middle, 3 stars – high. Speaking of copywriting and rewriting, stars have the following meaning:

    One star

Is given if the article is unique, has no gross grammatical and punctuation errors, typos, while all basic rules of lexical and syntactic compatibility and style are followed.

    Two stars

Are given when the article is unique, has no grammatical, punctuation and stylistic errors and typos. Moreover, the article should be fresh and interesting to read.

    Three stars

Are given if the article is engaging and easy for the intended readership to follow and understand. Naturally, the article should have no grammatical, punctuation and stylistic errors and typos. The author fails a test assignment if the article contains plagiarized content, distorted information, errors, guesswork, personal opinion and comments, and is missing some important parts.Copywriting and rewriting assessment criteria are the same because a rewritten article should also be engaging, easy to read, and have no stylistic errors, regardless of the quality of the initial article and the errors it might have. SEO copywriting is assessed based on the same criteria, but the article should also contain specific keywords inserted where they fit naturally.

    Note

The assigned level of skill in rewriting, copywriting and SEO copywriting may be adjusted if the article is perfect stylistically and structurally, very informative, the idea is delivered clearly and directly, however it has a few mistakes (typos, unnecessary commas, etc.). If that’s the case, it’s for the moderator to decide which level of skill to assign – two or three stars (depending on the article’s artistic merit).

    Translation assessment criteria

    One star

Is given for an adequate translation (Adequate translation is understood as “… a translation that meets the pragmatic tasks of translating act the most possible to achieve the goal of equivalence level, while preventing the rule breaking and usage of translating language, following the genre-stylistic requirements to texts of given type and conformity to conventional norms of translation. In loose definition, adequate translation is a “right” translation meeting the expectations and hopes of the communicants and persons checking the quality of the translation.” (V. N. Komissarov). Insignificant stylistic errors and partial inconformity to the linguistic norms of the target language are allowed. A translated text requires a proper formatting and shouldn’t have typos and untranslated text fragments or spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. The same words, terms and expressions should be translated identically throughout the text. It’s desirable that the unity of terminology inherent in each specific field of knowledge is ensured.

    Two stars

Are given for an adequate translation without any missing parts and abridgments which meet the customer’s requirements and conforms to the linguistic norms. There shouldn’t be any spelling, punctuation, grammatical or stylistic errors. A translated text requires proper formatting and mustn’t have typos and untranslated fragments. The same words, terms and expressions should be translated identically and the unity of terminology inherent in each specific field of knowledge should be ensured.

    Three stars

Are given for an adequate translation without missing parts and abridgments which meet the customer’s requirements and conforms to the linguistic norms. There shouldn’t be any spelling, punctuation, grammatical or stylistic errors. A translated text must have proper formatting and mustn’t have typos, spelling errors and untranslated fragments. The same words, terms and expressions should be translated identically and the unity of terminology inherent in each specific field of knowledge should be ensured. Moreover, the translated text should be engaging, fresh and interesting for the intended readership to read.

Attention: if the results of a test assignment are worse than those of the previous test assignment, the level of skill is lowered automatically.
